Overview
Purpose, background and current position
Establish a 5-hectare heather regeneration trial on Scotscraig's east boundary to meet NatureScot biodiversity commitments and reinstate native habitat.
The trial was scoped with NatureScot in 2024 and seeded across two plots in autumn 2025. Year-one monitoring is now under way under an independent ecologist.
Monitoring phase, 88% of year-one programme complete. East-plot regeneration slower than expected; supplementary seeding planned for September.
